Consultation
We recognize the importance of engaging individuals with disabilities in developing and reviewing our accessibility initiatives. Consultation has taken place with Dexterity Consulting recommended through the Saskatchewan Abilities Council and internal stakeholders to ensure initiatives align with actual needs. These consultations have informed updates to policies and procurement processes.
Procurement
To ensure accessible goods, services, and facilities procurement, we have integrated accessibility criteria into our purchasing practices. Accessibility considerations have been integrated into procurement policies, ensuring that all new purchases – such as office equipment, digital tools, and infrastructure – meet accessibility standards. Vendors are now required to demonstrate compliance with accessibility guidelines. Procurement will only take place with the need arises.
Transportation
Efforts to enhance accessible transportation include training staff and drivers in how to assist people with disabilities. Ongoing evaluation aim to further improve reliability and convenience.
Training
Staff training on accessibility awareness and best practices has been expanded and ongoing. New mandatory training modules have been introduced, covering topics such as disability etiquette, assistive technology and inclusive customer service.
Built Environment
RSB has made some significant Improvements to the building to ensure persons with mobility restrictions can access the building without obstacles by installing automatic doors. The timing of the doors has been lengthened to accommodate entry into the building. An accessible parking stall has been assigned to meet the needs of any person(s) with mobility restrictions in the front and rear parking areas.
Information and Communication
Accessible communication practices are vital to equitable service delivery. Digital accessibility improvements include ensuring that applications purchased are accessible and usable. RSB will provide users with assistive technologies as and when required. We will also review the company website to ensure compliance with Global Accessibility Standards. Efforts continue to ensure internal and external communications are fully accessible.
Customer Service
Enhanced customer service policies have been implemented, ensuring staff are trained to assist individuals with disabilities effectively. Feedback mechanisms have been strengthened to address accessibility -related concerns in a timely manner.
Next steps
- Continue to gather feedback and consult with stakeholders
- Expand accessibility training programs
